Russian Methods Produce Great Musicians

Russia for centuries has been known around the world for its love of music. The aspiring student in Russia has to go through a series of examinations and skill assessments even before they are accepted into Music Universities.

Marina, a product of Russian training, became the youngest graduate to be given a position as a music department head.

She served this position for more than twelve years before she left Russia as a refugee. Her piano and vocal training has made her one of the finest and highly skilled teachers in Southern California.

Russian training involves not only an assessment of skills and aptitude, but also the drive to work diligently to excel as a performer and a musician. Attention to proper posture and finger, hand, and arm positioning will be mastered. Then students must learn scales and exercises as they begin to make the instrument a part of their being.

Welcome to Marina's Piano Studio

Music is one of the most valuable skills to heighten mental agility. Tests have shown improvements in concentration, intelligence, and discipline. The tasks involved in the learning process carry over into every part of life.

But that, of course, is not the only values that music brings. No other instrument than the piano offers the broad base of music appreciation, composition, knowledge of theory, and improved understanding of what music really is.

Students of music will learn more than how to play a song or composition. They will learn how to play an instrument--any instrument. Then once an instrument is mastered, they can learn how to play all music. A teacher of a musical instrument must help the student to acheive the goal of being able to take any composition and read it. This is true not only for instrumentalists but also for vocalists. The values of music theory combined with the ability to pick up a composition and read it through and create powerful music are, after all, the goal of all true musicians.

This is the approach and focus of the Russian methods and it is that skill that Marina wants to pass on to her students. That being accomplished will stay with the "taught ones" for the rest of their lives.

This is why Marina's Piano Studio is among the top studios in the "neighborhood!"
